Crystal Cabin Award finalists named for APEX expo

The finalists have been named for the Crystal Cabin Award special category, “Best Customer Journey Experience”. The trophy will to be presented during the APEX Expo in Los Angeles on October 30th 2024.

Nominees for the trophy, honouring the best integrated solution for passengers, are:

“Skyted 320” by Skyted

This is a new whispering headset for undisturbed conversations in noisy environments. With backing from prestigious organizations such as Airbus and the European Space Agency, Skyted continues to redefine the standards for privacy and silence in communication without impacting cabin quietness.

This creates an innovative, first-of-its-kind streaming experience that allows passengers to stay connected for the entire duration of their journey.

Meanwhile, its low bandwidth addresses airline concerns over high data costs associated with live streaming. Passengers enjoy numerous benefits, with sports fans particularly in mind. They never have to miss a moment of the action while traveling, thanks to easy login through the WiFi portal and compatibility with any device.

This includes Thales‘ unique accessibility user interface, featuring a familiar structure & flow with thirteen intuitive gesture controls mirroring what they use on smartphones and tablets.

Thales is also developing the first in industry Signing Avatar that will sign to complement Closed Captions. The Avatar can sign in multiple languages and is fully customizable according to the airline’s requirements.

Best Customer Journey Experience relates to products that enrich and enhance the passenger experience, with hardware or software solutions, throughout the entire air journey (possibilities: from planning and booking to beginning the journey, on-board products all the way to the time after landing).

Submissions may be targeted at passengers, airlines, manufacturers and/or suppliers. The aim of this category is to provide inspiring examples of how new service products can be developed for personalised passenger experience.
