Mammoth Freighters has inducted the first 777-200LR at the STS Aviation Services (STS) facility in Manchester, UK.
STS has already commenced the passenger-to-freighter conversion on the aircraft (MSN 32222) and Mammoth Freighters says the agreement is a strategic move for multiple reasons.
Mammoth Freighters says that Manchester provides a convenient location that can easily serve greater Europe and will provide a central product support base for its customers in that world region.
Brian McCarthy, vice president of marketing and sales at Mammoth Freighters, said: “STS in Manchester has a highly skilled and available workforce in the UK. Furthermore, STS offers substantial hangar facilities and services, making them a perfect provider for a double production line of Mammoth 777-200LRMF and 777-300ERMF conversions.”
Mammoth Freighters also recently announced that it had received the first delivery of the specialised 777-200LRMF Collins Aerospace cargo loading system.
Currently, Mammoth Freighters has two 777 aircraft in advanced stages of freighter conversion at Mammoth’s modification partner facility, Aspire MRO based in Fort Worth, Texas.
Mammoth Freighters says it expects the installation of the first cargo loading system to be completed in September, and then the programme will progress to the final stages of the certification process.
