France-based Expliseat has been chosen to supply Air France with seating for its Embraer E190 twin jets.

The aircraft interior manufacturer produces the lightweight TiSeat and Air France will be the launch customer of a revised model.  This series of seats will be unveiled in May at Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg and will be produced at Expliseat’s new factory in Angers.

Amaury Barberot, CEO of Expliseat, said: “This collaboration underlines Air France confidence in our technology and the commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for all passengers.”

The TiSeat weighs just 6.5kg per passenger and is constructed from composite materials, aluminium and lightweight  fabrics.

In April 2023, Expliseat announced it had raised $19m in capital and the setting up of a new factory in Angers, complementary to that of the industrial partner in Montauban. The new site allows production capacity to top 37,000 seats per year, and increasing its workforce to 100+ employees.

The firm plans to use some of its new capacity to diversify into other transport markets. These include rail, motor coach, eVTOL and more.
