Taiwan-based Mandarin Airlines has taken delivery an ATR 72-600 equipped with the new PW127XT engines.

The delivery follows the airline’s order of six ATR 72-600 at the Paris Air Show earlier this year, to add to the existing fleet of nine aircraft in the same class. The airline serves a domestic network and provides essential connectivity to eight destinations, including the islands of Kinmen, Magong, and Matsu. Additionally, the airline operates regional flights to various destinations across Asia and China.

Mandarin Airlines has had a relatively complex history since its formation in 1991, but one constant has been majority ownership by PRC flag-carrier China Airlines, which now owns 99.3% of the airline. Previously, Mandarin operated a mixed fleet as it flew long haul as well as regional flights. However, it’s last Boeing was returned to China Airlines in 2019 leaving the smaller airline with the ATRs and eight Embraer 190AR aircraft, which have been retired to make way for the new order of aircraft.
