SunExpress, the joint venture of Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, is starting 2026 with the addition of four new Boeing 737-8 aircraft.

As part of SunExpress’ ongoing fleet modernisation, four aircraft arrived in Antalya in January with the final one arriving today,  January 29.

Of these, three of the aircraft have already entered into service on the SunExpress route network, and the last one will be in service at the beginning of February.

These four aircraft are in addition to the five 737-8s that were delivered in 2025 and make up part of an order for 70 MAX 8 and 10 aircraft the carrier has with Boeing.

In February last year, the then CEO Max Kownatzki expressed his frustration at the rate of aircraft deliveries. “We’re not happy with the delivery schedule, and you can quote me on that,” he stated at the time. “Would we like Boeing to step up the delivery process? Yes, of course.”

Recently, the airline posted figures suggesting that it enjoyed ‘robust traffic’ in 2025, with passenger numbers up 7% YoY.
