Wizz Air adds Doncaster Sheffield base and launches thirteen new routes

Wizz Air has celebrated the launch of its Doncaster Sheffield base and new routes to Tenerife, Malaga, Larnaca and Lublin.

The base already has an Airbus A320 aircraft is already allocated, with the next one arriving in December, meaning Wizz has added over 560,000 seats per annum to its Doncaster Sheffield capacity.

From the start of December, Wizz Air will also launch new routes to Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Alicante, Lisbon, Faro, Eindhoven, Kosice and Suceava, just in time for a trip away before Christmas or in the new year, to beat those January blues.

Wizz Air UK managing director, Owain Jones, said: “We are delighted to be offering more travel opportunities to our customers in the north east, bringing much-needed connections to the region and more ultra-low fare options to a variety of unique European destinations.

Leading the industry with our health and hygiene measures, passengers can rely on Wizz Air’s stringent disinfection protocols, excellent onboard service and, of course, ultra-low fares to take them to their dream destinations.”

This week also saw the launch four new routes from London Gatwick, representing the recent significant growth of Wizz Air’s UK network, with the airline now operating 132 routes to 73 destinations from 11 UK airports.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport’s marketing and corporate affairs director, Kate Stow, added: “We’re thrilled to see the first Wizz flights take off from DSA as part of their full-based operation. We look forward to continuing our partnership so that we can go on providing affordable travel through ultra-low fares to people in the North east of the Pennines, creating new routes to popular leisure destinations for our customers across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
