AFI KLM E&M wins China Airlines GE90 support contract

China Airlines has awarded Air France Industries KLM E&M (AFI KLM E&M) a contract to support the GE90 engines powering its fleet of 777F aircraft.

The long-term power by the hour agreement covers solutions such as MRO on engine and LRU, engineering support including spare engine support, transportation, on-wing and on-site support.

China Airlines will also benefit from AFI KLM E&M’s engine predictive maintenance solution ‘Prognos’.

Air France-KLM Group is the second largest GE90 operator in the world, giving AFI KLM E&M plenty of experience in maintaining the engine.

“This is a major and historic agreement which demonstrates the high value and reputation of AFI KLM E&M’s services in the global market, especially in Asia,” said AFI KLM E&M’s vice president sales Asia Pacific Dominik Wiener Silva.

“We have worked hard to adapt our offer to the needs of China Airlines. We have demonstrated that our solutions offer the best guarantees in terms of reliability and performance. We are honoured that China Airlines, a new AFI KLM E&M customer, has placed its trust in us by awarding us this major contract.”

China Airlines’ senior vice president engineering & maintenance Houng Wang commented: “AFI KLM E&M’s ability to provide us with a dedicated and customised support programme and adhesion to our bidding process gave us confidence. We worked closely and transparently with them to get a better understanding of each party’s expectations. We are confident that this understanding, combined with AFI KLM E&M’s expertise and skills in GE90 maintenance, will contribute positively to the effectiveness of the support we will be offered.”
