Iberia Maintenance wins Volotea A320 C-check contract

Volotea has selected Iberia Maintenance to perform C-check overhauls on its A320s in a five-and-a-half-year contract.

The inspection tasks will be carried out during the winter at Iberia Maintenance’s workshops in Madrid and Barcelona, beginning in January 2023.

Volotea said it selected Iberia Maintenance after an “exhaustive” bidding process in which the Spanish MRO proved the “excellent quality of its services”.

The C-checks consist of the inspection, overhaul, maintenance and replacement of aircraft parts, and includes preventive maintenance. They must be performed every 14-16 months.

“This long-term agreement assures us of first-class maintenance services for our A320 fleet, also carried out with a leading and reputable Spanish company such as Iberia Maintenance, which allows us to support and promote this industry in our country,” said Volotea’s founder and CEO Carlos Muñoz. “In addition, having the highest quality inspection services is key for Volotea, an airline whose main priority is safety.”

Iberia’s president and CEO Javier Sánchez-Prieto commented: “This agreement with Volotea contributes to the continued consolidation of Iberia Maintenance as a reference supplier in southern Europe for all MRO services and will also give a boost to Iberia’s project to develop the heavy maintenance business in Barcelona.”
