Safran Nacelles and ST Engineering in LEAP-1A MRO license agreement

Safran Nacelles has signed a license agreement with ST Engineering’s Commercial Aerospace business for the MRO of the Airbus A320neo’s LEAP-1A nacelles.

More than 2,500 nacelles produced by Safran Nacelles are currently in service on Airbus A320neo aircraft that are powered by CFM International’s LEAP-1A engines.

The companies said the partnership would ensure high standards and proximity to a repair station for A320neo operators.

ST Engineering’s sites are also equipped for complex repairs, with 24/7 access to a stock of large nacelle components including air inlets, fan cowls, thrust reversers and exhaust systems.

“I look forward to sharing with ST Engineering, a global MRO player, our experience and our best OEM quality standards,” said Safran Nacelles’ executive vice president – customer support & services Alain Berger. “Operators of the LEAP-1A equipped A320neo nacelles can therefore rest assured that they will benefit from the best repairs in an extensive network of global stations.”

ST Engineering’s head of aerostructures and systems Dr Yip Yuen Cheong commented: “We are delighted to extend our partnership with Safran Nacelles through this MRO license to provide A320neo LEAP-1A nacelle services. Our MRO solutions, combined with strong engineering and manufacturing expertise, will provide operators best-in-class services that effectively support their flying operations.”
