Vietjet breaks ground on new MRO centre at Long Thanh International Airport
Vietnamese low-cost airline Vietjet has begun construction of a new aircraft maintenance and engineering centre at Long Thanh International Airport, part of a $100 million investment to strengthen Vietnam’s aviation infrastructure.
The development, which includes hangars No. 3 and No. 4, will be capable of servicing up to 10 aircraft at the same time. Equipped with internationally standardised facilities, the centre will support Vietjet’s growing fleet while offering technical services to both domestic and foreign carriers.
The project was inaugurated during a ceremony attended by General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and senior leaders from government, industry and international partners. It is one of 80 national landmark projects launched to mark the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).
Vietjet said the facility will play a key role in enhancing operational efficiency at Long Thanh International Airport, which is expected to become one of the country’s most modern aviation gateways.
The airline described the project as a demonstration of its “long-term strategic vision and sustainable investment commitment”, highlighting the role of private enterprises in driving Vietnam’s aviation development.
