AIX 2026: Collins launches ‘SkyNook’ for back row passengers
The rearmost seats in a widebody airliner are always the most difficult to sell for airlines, as passengers seated in this area complain about a lack of privacy from people queueing for the WC, while the seats themselves might not recline properly due to the rear bulkhead.
To counter this, Collins has launched its ‘SkyNook’ product designed to work with its Aspire seats.
Simply put, the product consists of a sliding door panel, most often seen on Business Class suites and a folding table fitted in the void between the window seat and cabin wall.

The company hopes that airlines will now be able to sell the seat as a coherent product, for example to families who want extra space for a baby’s travel cot and bag. Alternatively, it might appeal to customers who wish to use the reconfigured space for an assistance animal.
Unlike many of the other concepts seen at this year’s show, the SkyNook needs no further certification and will soon be flying with an as-yet-unnamed launch customer.
At launch, the product is available for various A350 and B787 configurations. An alternative version is available without the sliding door for the A330.
