American Airlines has rebuilt it’s customer-facing app, following criticisms that the old version was not intuitive.

More than a simple visual upgrade, the application has been rebuilt to make it easier for customers to navigate their trip, find key information fast and take action with fewer taps.

“Our goal is to build digital tools our customers actually want to use every time they travel,” said American’s Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden. “Each update builds toward a smoother, more connected experience that reflects how people actually travel today and as expectations change, so will the app.”

A significant part of the update is a redesigned upcoming travel page.  Customers can tap or swipe through new navigation mini banners to move between flight details, and more easily spot important callouts as well as accessing essential actions at a glance. Features like check-in and boarding pass are now easier to find.
