IFE and cabin technology solutions expert Burrana has powered up the first of four Luxair Boeing 737-800 aircraft with in-seat power as part of a cabin upgrade program to deliver an enhanced passenger experience.
Every passenger will have the ability to power and charge smartphones, tablets, and other Portable Electronic Devices (PED) via dual USB-A jacks powered with Burrana’s ultra-lightweight power architecture.
Critical to the Luxemburg carrier’s selection of Burrana was its ability to offer an easy installation with the lightest weight system in the industry, with no impact on the existing seat certification on the B737 Geven Essenza seats and Geven Comoda seats. This was achieved with an EASA Minor Mod in a very tight project schedule.
Martial Romanjuk, avionic & electrical system support engineering at Luxair stated: “Our
airline was looking for the latest technologies to bring the best passenger experience to
our guests. We needed a slim, integrated, and reliable Dual USB-A outlet solution that
allows passengers to arrive at their destination fully charged. Burrana was able to bring
this to us in record time, with the flexibility and commitment we required. Luxair is now
eager to launch this new USB charging feature on our first B737 cabin this month”.
Luxair’s customers will be able to enjoy the fastest USB-A device charging available from
the industry’s most innovative in-seat power provider via its unique 48VDC architecture.
Intelligent power-sharing distribution and load shed management ensure greater
utilization and efficiency of available power in the cabin. Multiple levels of redundancy
provide the highest reliability, making the possibility of a passenger-facing failure almost
“Luxair and Burrana share a common interest in innovation to bring ultra-lightweight,
reliable, and high-performance cabin technologies onboard Luxair’s B737 fleet. Burrana’s
innovative seat spar design on the seat leg ensures all passengers fly in comfort without
any intrusion to their leg room” said Marc Cougoule, director, EMEA Region at Burrana.
“We’re delighted to continue to build on our relationship with Luxair which started many
years ago with the installation of Paves Overhead IFE systems on Luxair’s B737 fleet.”
