A recruitment event held in Shenzhen on August 30 has marked the first time that Cathay Pacific has recruited from the Chinese mainland.

The airline believes that it is the ‘right time’ to be recruiting from the mainland, citing the number of flights inside China, as well as the growing number of Putonghua-speaking customers. The airline has launched a ‘Chinese Mainland Talent Recruitment Plan’ and has set itself a target of 200-300 cabin crew from the country this year, and 100-2000 by 2025. There will also be the opportunity to apply for ground-based jobs at future hiring events.

Attending the recruitment event, Director Service Delivery Mandy Ng said: “We will continue our recruitment in the Chinese Mainland, building a diverse and inclusive team, and providing excellent and caring service consistently to our customers. Through enhanced communication and collaboration between the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong, we can further facilitate the flow of talent within the Greater Bay Area.”
