GoMedia along with its new parent company, Icomera, is taking its offering to the skies as it announces its first aviation contract with Japanese Airlines’ new low-cost carrier, Zipair.

Launching 16 of October 2020, Zipair will use its fleet of Boeing 787-8 aircraft to serve passengers flying from Tokyo to Seoul.

GoMedia managing director, Roger Matthews, said: “This is an incredibly exciting time for GoMedia as we take the company from the land to the air for the first time. Our infotainment solution has already proven hugely valuable, available to rail and coach passengers worldwide and we are proud to be bringing our platform to the aviation market in 2020. We have enjoyed working closely with Zipair to develop this new solution.”

To keep passengers entertained during their journey, the partnership with GoMedia means that Zipair customers will be able to access a range of complimentary onboard entertainment via their own devices, using the built-in aircraft Wi-Fi. A selection of movies, Zipair special content and promotional offers will be available on board.

Zipair president, Shingo Nishida, added: “Zipair is an affordable airline to fly with, but that doesn’t mean that our passengers will have to compromise on onboard entertainment. By working with GoMedia, we can provide a seamless experience for those travelling with us, enjoying a range of global and local content delivered direct to their handheld devices. We look forward to extending the service in 2021.”

Matthews concluded: “For an airline such as Zipair to be looking at innovative in-air solutions demonstrates the importance of onboard entertainment for customer experience and satisfaction. We have proven results in the rail and coach industries and look forward to adding aviation to our portfolio.”
