German charter airline, LEAV Aviation, has announced a partnership with AirFi, a global travel technology company, to provide passengers with access to AirFi’s suite of digital air services for improved inflight entertainment, connectivity, and onboard shopping.

LEAV Aviation will now introduce three inflight services powered by AirFi: the wireless inflight entertainment system (W-IFE), Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity, and a mobile payment system to support crew and facilitate onboard retail services.

Travellers will be able to stream various entertainment options directly to their personal devices in multiple languages, including movies, television series, music, games, and an interactive map, as well as digital newspapers, magazines, and airline-specific content.

The LEO system uses lightweight, window-mounted antennas to reduce drag on the aircraft and keep fuel efficiency in check while providing reliable connection, allowing passengers to send and receive text messages during flights.

AirFi’s mobile payment solution enables flight attendants to access a fully integrated point-of-sale system, for secure, real-time payment validation. It also allows for a boarder range of onboard retail experiences.

Daniel Broda, chief executive of LEAV Aviation, said of the partnership: “We’re always looking for ways to enhance our passenger experience, and our partnership with AirFi is a major step in that direction. With new streaming entertainment, onboard connectivity, and a smarter retail system, we’re making flying with LEAV more enjoyable and convenient than ever.”

Job Heimerikx, chief executive of AirFi, added: “We’re excited to work with LEAV Aviation to bring our inflight solutions to their growing network. LEAV’s forward-thinking approach aligns perfectly with AirFi’s mission
