Southend-based Ipeco Holdings Limited has announced plans to build a second facility on the new Airport Business Park. The expansion comes two years after the company moved into its first 130,000 sq ft purpose-built unit on the site. The 140,000 sq ft facility is due for completion in 2024.

Ipeco is an aircraft crew seating manufacturer with customers such as Boeing, Airbus, Embraer, Textron, Bombardier, and Gulfstream. The firm also holds a significant market share in supplying executive jet cabin seating and a growing supplier of aircraft galley inserts to many airlines.

The company employs nearly 800 staff of which approximately 600 are based on the Ipeco campus in Southend on Sea, comprising four buildings in Aviation Way and one on Airport Business Park. The latest facility will allow Ipeco to amalgamate its extensive manufacturing operations further to generate more efficiencies.

Ipeco has been based at London Southend Airport since 1960 and this investment demonstrates a strong belief in its continuing success and long-term future as a contributor to both the industry it serves and to the local community in Essex.
