Korean Air and Delta expand ‘seamless baggage transfer’ to Seattle and Los Angeles
Korean Air and Delta Air Lines have expanded their Seamless Baggage Transfer service from Incheon International Airport (ICN) to include customers connecting through Seattle (SEA) and Los Angeles (LAX), making travel from Korea and wider Asia to the U.S. faster and more convenient.
The service uses International Remote Baggage Screening (IRBS) technology to screen checked baggage at Incheon before departure, with reviews completed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. As a result, passengers no longer need to collect and recheck their bags when arriving in the U.S. and can proceed directly to their connecting flights, saving up to 20 minutes.
With this expansion, the service is now available through five major U.S. gateways: Atlanta, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Detroit, Seattle and Los Angeles.
Since launching on the Incheon–Atlanta route in August 2025, the programme has significantly improved the customer experience, reducing customs-related baggage interactions by more than 65% and helping many travellers make onward connections that they might otherwise have missed.
“Our joint venture with Delta continues to strengthen connections between Korea and the United States,” said Kwangho Ko, Senior Vice President at Korean Air. “Together, we are building a more connected global network through Incheon, giving customers greater convenience, more choices and a consistently elevated level of service throughout their journey.”
“Seamless Baggage Transfer simplifies the connection experience for customers traveling to the United States,” said Jeff Moomaw, Vice President – Asia Pacific at Delta Air Lines. “By expanding this service to Seattle and Los Angeles, we enable customers to move through U.S. airports more efficiently and have more time to relax between flights.”
Both airlines say the initiative reflects their ongoing efforts to improve the end-to-end travel experience through operational innovation, network growth and enhanced customer convenience, with plans to explore expansion to additional markets in the future.
