Passengers boarding LATAM’s 787-9 Dreamliners will soon get to enjoy new seats with some enhancements which the airline reckons will cost around $15m per aircraft.
The new configuration includes an upgrade in onboard entertainment. Economy class customers can connect via Bluetooth to 12″ high-definition touchscreens to enjoy the region’s largest library of content with their personal headphones, including over 170 movies, 550 TV show episodes, 100 music albums, and content from HBO Max, Paramount+, and Disney+.
Additionally, a new interactive Panasonic Arc 3D map has been added, providing detailed information about landmarks and streets from the air, allowing passengers to discover iconic places in different cities.

The airline group aims to bring a total of four aircraft with this new design this year, with a total investment of $60m.

“These enhancements position LATAM group at the forefront of the region in terms of onboard entertainment platform, alongside this renewed cabin, which reflects the unique spirit and pride of the incredible region. It’s about experiencing the warmth and hospitality of South America,” says Jaime Cornejo, Cabin, Onboard Entertainment, and Connectivity Manager at LATAM Airlines Group.
Among other novelties of the new design is the incorporation of seat upholstery made with 57% recycled leather, whose production reduces carbon emissions by up to 60%, and saves water and land use by up to 55%. While this is the second widebody aircraft with seat upholstery made from recycled leather, all narrowbody aircraft in the LATAM group fleet already include this material in their seats.
These renovated spaces feature headrests, 6” recline, and a renewed onboard entertainment system with 12” screens.
