Korean Air updates in-flight health-conscious meal selections

Korean Air has renewed its selection of special in-flight dietary meals, introducing updated menus for seven meal types effective September 1.

Korean Air has renewed its selection of special in-flight dietary meals, introducing updated menus across seven categories from September 1, 2025.

The airline said the refresh reflects current health trends and passenger feedback, with changes made to both ingredients and preparation methods.

The new menus were developed in collaboration with the nutrition team at Inha University Hospital over six months, incorporating the latest clinical guidelines for conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and hypertension.

Among the revised options:

  • Low-fat, diabetic and low-calorie meals: Reduced carbohydrates, increased vegetables, antioxidant-rich ingredients and lean proteins such as fish and chicken.

  • Bland meals: Peeled, gently cooked vegetables, exclusion of strong spices, and more soft fruits such as watermelon, melon and pear.

  • Gluten-intolerant meals: Wheat-free, with rice flour substitutes and strict avoidance of cross-contamination.

  • Low-salt meals: Less than 1g of salt per meal, using aromatic vegetables and plant-based oils for flavour.

  • Low-lactose meals: Dairy-free with alternatives, now including lactose-free Greek yoghurt at breakfast.

The special dietary meals are available across all cabin classes and must be requested at least 24 hours before departure through Korean Air’s website or service centre.

A Korean Air representative said: “This meal renewal reflects our commitment to supporting the evolving health and wellness needs of our passengers.

“By enhancing our dietary meal options, we aim to provide a safer, healthier and more enjoyable in-flight dining experience.”
