Unum opens larger Gatwick production facility
Unum Aircraft Seating has opened a larger London Gatwick production facility
A launch party for the new factory, which is based in the Manor Royal aerospace hub at One Kelvin Lane was attended by Unum’s founding shareholders and key industry partners, alongside representatives from the Green Cabin Alliance and the UK Department for Business & Trade. Industry sage and longstanding Unum supporter Ben Bettel was also on hand to take care of ribbon cutting duties.
READ: Unum seating gets thumbs up from regulator
Unum CEO and founder Chris Brady says: “The launch of our Gatwick factory caps what has been a hugely successful year for Unum. We’ve gained our regulatory approvals from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and launched new products featuring our game changing patented Scimitar seat mechanism.
We’ve also made several senior appointments, including hiring Tania Trucchia as chief operating officer (COO) and in the past few months grown the Engineering Leadership Team to support our design and testing activities. Opening our new factory right at the heart of the industry is the perfect way to conclude the year, and firmly establishes Unum as the credible alternative in business class seating!”
