Avianca awards three cargo handling contracts to Menzies Aviation

Avianca has awarded three new cargo handling contracts to aviation logistics specialist Menzies Aviation.

Under the agreements, Menzies will become the ground handling provider for the Latin American carrier at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), and air cargo handler at Amsterdam Schipol (AMS).

Commenting on the partnership, Menzies’ executive vice president, Americas John Redmond said: “We are proud that our partnership with Avianca continues to go from strength to strength in the Americas region and beyond. We have significantly grown our relationship with Avianca this year, taking over five stations and providing services across ground handling, air cargo handlin and into-place fuelling.

“This is a testament to the hard work of our teams on the ground and the safe, secure and consistent quality service we provide. We look forward to further strengthening our ties with Avianca.”

Operations in Canada launched this month, with Menzies providing ramp handling and cleaning services at YYZ.

It has also started providing a full suite of ground handling services for six flights per week at LAX.

The company will also provide cargo and freighter ramp handling services at AMS as part of a three-year contract.
