Brussels Airport has announced that total cargo volumes through the airport increased by 2.9% in April compared to April 2023, totaling 62,715 tonnes.

Flown cargo volumes were also up by 2.7%, totaling 53,143 tonnes.

The airport says that the full freighter segment recorded an increase of 1.5%, with belly cargo growing by almost 20%, in line with the increased capacity of passenger flights.

Express services lost 5%, while trucked volumes rose by almost 4%.

The airport says that its main import regions are Asia, with a strong uptick compared to April 2023, due to an increase in e-commerce, followed by Africa and North America. The main export region is again Asia, followed by Africa and North America.

The airport reports that the number of cargo flights fell by almost 3%, which it says is mainly due to a decrease in flights in the Integrator segment.
