Ukrainian freighter Antonov Airlines has transported a racing yacht to participate in one of the world’s most prestigious and anticipated sailing events.

The airline’s AN-124-100 aircraft was used for the shipment of the American Magic team’s AC75 yacht and accompanying cargo from Providence, Rhode Island, US to Barcelona, Spain, where the team is preparing to participate in the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup.

The AN-124-100 was chartered with the logistics partners GAC Pindar and Solent Freight Services to deliver the racing yacht which measures 22 metres long, 5 metres wide and 3.5 metres high.

So that it could be loaded on board, the yacht was previously placed on a special cradle which was easily moved into the cargo cabin using the aircraft’s on-board winch.

The AC75 is a modified version of the monohull yacht built for the 36th America’s Cup, which Antonov Airlines transported from the US to New Zealand in 2020.

Antonov Airlines specialises in the transportation of outsized and project cargo worldwide using its fleet of seven AN-124-100s, two of them with up to 150 tonnes payload, its 60-tonne payload AN-22, and its unique 250-tonne payload AN-225, which is the largest aircraft in the world.
