Transport and logistics company cargo-partner and Lufthansa handled their first sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) shipment directly from Vienna Airport in early December.
The air freight shipment took off from Vienna and landed at Dallas Fort Worth Airport in Texas, US, the following day. It was carried out on behalf of a customer from the cosmetics industry and amounted to a volume weight of 340 kg.
To ensure it was carried out in a climate-neutral manner, all CO₂ emissions generated by the provision of SAF were compensated for.
“We are pleased to set this first important milestone for sustainable transport technology together with our long-standing partner Lufthansa,” said cargo-partner’s corporate director product management air cargo Jo Feiks.
“We are pleased to set this first important milestone for sustainable transport technology together with our long-standing partner Lufthansa. For both companies, it was the first shipment to depart from Vienna under SAF criteria. With this starting signal, we want to jointly pave the way for CO₂-neutral logistics.
“We hope that we can inspire many of our customers to opt for transport with sustainable fuels, and we look forward to numerous follow-up projects together with Lufthansa.”
