Hong Kong terminals become first in Asia to achieve IEnvA certification

Cathay Cargo Terminal and Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) have achieved IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) certification, becoming the first cargo handling companies to achieve this in Asia.

Cathay Cargo Terminal and Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) have achieved IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) certification, becoming the first cargo handling companies to achieve this in Asia.

Mark Watts, Cathay Cargo Terminal chief operating officer, said: “This significant milestone demonstrates our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability.”

IEnvA is a comprehensive certification programme developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to assesses the commitment of aviation stakeholders including airlines, airports, cargo-handling facilities, freight forwarders and ramp handlers, to continuously improve their environmental and sustainability performance.

By adhering to globally recognised standards and industry best practice, IEnvA ensures that organisations minimise negative impacts on the environment while maintaining operational excellence.

Watts added: “The programme brings real rigour to environment management systems and reflects the significant investments our companies are making to support Hong Kong International Airport achieve its vision for sustainable airport operations.”
