IAG Cargo, the cargo division of International Airlines Group (IAG), has expanded its third-party handling portfolio through a new agreement to manage MASkargo operations at its London Heathrow hub, further enhancing the airport’s role as a major gateway for global air freight.
Under the partnership, IAG Cargo becomes the ground handling agent for MASkargo, the cargo arm of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG). The deal brings all MASkargo shipments through IAG Cargo’s Premia facility at Heathrow, with MASkargo currently operating twice-daily services between Kuala Lumpur and London.
IAG Cargo said the partnership reinforces Heathrow’s strategic value within the worldwide cargo network, offering MASkargo improved transfer flows and access to IAG Cargo’s established infrastructure and airside capabilities.
Adam Carson, chief operations officer at IAG Cargo, said: “Welcoming MASkargo to our London Heathrow hub marks an important step as we continue to expand our third-party handling capabilities.
“With its strategic location, Heathrow is a prime gateway for MASkargo, and our hub offers exceptional airside access and world-class facilities, enabling us to deliver the reliability and service excellence that customers expect.”
MASkargo chief executive Mark Jason Thomas described the agreement as a significant milestone for the Malaysian carrier’s global operations. “Partnering with IAG Cargo at London Heathrow marks another milestone in our journey to enhance global connectivity and service excellence,” he said.
“This collaboration not only reinforces our commitment to delivering reliability and quality for our customers but also strengthens MASkargo’s presence in one of the world’s key cargo hubs.”
He added that the Heathrow hub would support “smoother transfer experiences and wider access to major destinations across Europe and the Americas via our network of strategic airline partners,” noting that IAG Cargo’s infrastructure and team “align perfectly with our operational standards”.
