Lufthansa Cargo, WiseTech Global and IBS Software have worked together to implement IATA’s ONE Record data standard, successfully exchanging air cargo shipment records in a production environment.
The collaboration is described as one of the first large-scale, multi-stakeholder implementations of ONE Record, which was introduced by IATA in January 2026 to support more transparent and seamless data exchange across the air cargo ecosystem.
The first use cases involved Master Air Waybill data created by a freight forwarder using WiseTech’s CargoWise platform. Shipment records were successfully received and processed by Lufthansa Cargo’s systems through the IBS ONE Record server.
The implementation enables data to flow more seamlessly between freight forwarders and the airline, while allowing freight information to be checked and processed within companies’ own systems before transportation begins.
ONE Record also supports the exchange of a wider range of freight data and file formats, providing greater transparency at individual shipment level and creating opportunities for more proactive management across the transport chain.
Dr Jasmin Kaiser, head of information management and chief data officer at Lufthansa Cargo, said: “Lufthansa Cargo has been actively driving the introduction of ONE Record for many years to support more efficient, paperless data sharing within the industry.
“Following several pilot projects, we are now ready to connect to customers and partners even faster and more efficiently at scale. Furthermore, this seamless data exchange lays the foundation for introducing further digital benefits and AI-powered services.”
Elias Hatzigeorgiou, senior product manager at WiseTech Global, said the implementation demonstrated the potential of industry collaboration around a common digital vision.
“As early adopters, we are not only proving the value of IATA’s ONE Record standard but also helping to accelerate the industry’s transition to a truly connected air cargo ecosystem where stakeholders can exchange shipment data seamlessly, securely and in real time,” he added.
Radhesh Menon, head of cargo and logistics solutions at IBS Software, said: “Technology, and digitalisation are significant drivers of growth for the air cargo industry, and we look forward to responding to the evolving needs of the industry, and leading ONE Record ready innovation.”
