Global GSA Group subsidiary Mondial Airline Services Spain has won the tender to represent China Southern Airlines Cargo in Spain, supporting the successful launch of the carrier’s new cargo connection between Madrid and Guangzhou.
The new service commenced in early December 2025, with China Southern Airlines Cargo operating a Boeing 787-9 three times weekly between Madrid-Barajas and Guangzhou-Baiyun.
As local representative, Mondial Airline Services Spain has overseen all preparations for the airline’s entry into the Spanish market.
A dedicated local team now manages commercial activities, serves as the primary point of contact for key customers, and supports all operational processes, acting as a full extension of China Southern in Spain.
The inaugural flight carried a mix of general cargo and temperature-sensitive products.
Each Boeing 787-9 service offers capacity of 15,000kg and 80m³, with bookings available for general cargo, time-critical shipments and a wide range of specialised products. Typical Spanish exports supported on the route include temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals and seafood.
Beyond the direct Madrid to Guangzhou link, the service provides onward connectivity across China Southern’s wider network into China, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, enhancing options for Spanish freight forwarders requiring efficient access to key Asia-Pacific markets.
Aytekin Saray, chief executive of Global GSA Group, said: “Global GSA Group already enjoys a long and rewarding partnership with China Southern Airlines Cargo in a number of European countries and is grateful to the airline for continuing to place its trust in our services.
“We are delighted to represent China Southern Airlines Cargo now also in Spain, and will ensure that this new routing very quickly becomes profitable through our access to state-of-the-art digital solutions offering real-time market intelligence, Mondial’s substantial local knowledge and its close collaboration with Spain’s freight forwarding community.
“Mondial Airline Services Spain is committed to supporting China Southern’s expansion into Spain and its team plays a critical role in aligning the airline’s global strategy with local market realities to ensure long-term route performance.”
