Riyadh Air to digitalise ULD fleet under Unilode agreement

Riyadh Air & Unilode

Saudi start-up airline Riyadh Air has signed a long-term agreement with Unilode Aviation Solutions (Unilode) to provide comprehensive unit load device (ULD) management and support services.

The deal covers the supply of new lightweight ULDs designed to boost operational efficiency and sustainability, while also tapping into Unilode’s global repair network and full-service management model.

Riyadh Air will integrate Bluetooth-enabled tracking across its ULD fleet, supported by Unilode’s reader infrastructure, giving the airline real-time visibility, condition monitoring, and optimisation of assets.

The agreement forms part of Riyadh Air’s growth strategy ahead of its planned 2025 launch. The airline expects to operate more than 180 aircraft by 2030, serving over 100 destinations and contributing $20 billion to Saudi Arabia’s non-oil GDP while creating more than 200,000 jobs worldwide.

Adam Boukadida, chief financial officer of Riyadh Air, said: “At Riyadh Air, every decision is about creating journeys that feel effortless, personalised, and responsible. Our partnership with Unilode is more than a technological upgrade, it’s about building trust, reducing our environmental footprint, and delivering the premium experience our guests deserve. Together, we’re shaping the future of travel with smart, sustainable, and human-centred solutions.”

Unilode’s chief executive officer, Ross Marino, added: “Partnering with Riyadh Air at such a pivotal stage of its journey underscores Unilode’s ability to deliver value not only today, but also well into the future. Our innovative ULD solutions, unrivalled global network, and pioneering digital platform will give Riyadh Air the agility and resilience needed to build one of the most forward-looking airlines in the world. We are proud to contribute to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 by supporting its aviation transformation.”

By embedding advanced digitalisation into its cargo and passenger operations, Riyadh Air is positioning itself as a catalyst for smarter, more sustainable aviation practices.
