STARLUX Airlines has become the first Taiwanese carrier to achieve four International Air Transport Association (IATA) Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) certifications, underscoring its ambition to lead in the specialist cargo sector.

The airline, which had already attained CEIV Lithium Batteries, CEIV Pharma and CEIV Fresh accreditations, has now added the CEIV Live Animals certification to its portfolio.

The latest award recognises STARLUX Airlines’ compliance with stringent global standards for the safe, healthy and humane transport of animals, covering every stage from cargo acceptance and ground handling to transit and delivery.

To meet the certification’s requirements, STARLUX Airlines upgraded its transport facilities, introduced robust risk assessment and contingency measures, and delivered in-depth training for employees on animal welfare, emergency response and international regulations.

“This recognition affirms our expertise in handling special cargo and demonstrates that our transport processes and team training meet global standards,” said Glenn Chai, chief executive of STARLUX Airlines. “We will continue to enhance our capabilities and service details to provide trustworthy solutions for customers who require premium logistics support.”

STARLUX Airlines currently operates cargo services in the bellyhold of its passenger fleet but is moving to expand its freight operations significantly. Its first A350F dedicated freighter is due for delivery in 2027, and the airline has exercised purchase rights for five more of the type, bringing its future cargo fleet to 10 aircraft. The move is aimed at meeting surging demand for international air freight while reinforcing STARLUX Airlines’ position in the premium logistics market.
