Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has won a contract to handle Qatar Airways Cargo’s Boeing 777 Freighter operations at Liège Airport in Belgium.

WFS will now provide ramp and warehouse handling services for freight arriving from Doha and other prime international cargo markets.

WFS said the contract reinforces its status as the leading cargo handling organisation at Liège Airport, based on volume. It now handles 11 international airlines which use Liège as a key European hub to transport cargo and e-commerce traffic.

Philippe Torry, managing director for Belgium at WFS, said: “We are delighted to be serving Qatar Airways Cargo at another of the airline’s key international cargo stations and proud to be contributing to the growth of Liège Airport.

“At WFS, we are fully aware of the highest standards Qatar Airways expects for its customers. Being awarded another significant contract by the airline demonstrates our ability to consistently meet these requirements, and we hope this will lead to more growth opportunities across our respective global networks.”

In 2025, Liège Airport reported its annual cargo tonnage rose 14% to 1.32m tonnes. This upward trend continued in the first quarter of 2026, with the airport reporting a 15.6% year-on-year boost in volumes to 342,845 tonnes. According to the airport, this was supported by a 7% increase in aircraft movements to 7,247 in the opening three months of this year.
