Seko MedTec has established a rapid response team to assist and maintain medical care to tackle supply chain challenges surrounding urgently needed medical supplies.

To begin planning for capacity, Seko MedTec is encouraging all medical aid and relief manufacturers of respirators, ventilators, gloves, masks, gowns and other personal protective equipment to make contact immediately.

Seko MedTec Solutions managing partner, Robert Shearer, explains: “The nature of our business means we always maintain regular contact with our clients, but the impact of covid-19 on production and transportation has created an unprecedented amount of variability in supply chains, which requires a carefully-coordinated response.”

“The upshot is that our key clients are having to find solutions for very irregular demand and decreased capacity. We are focusing our MedTec resources on providing surge capacity for global and domestic transport, last mile white glove and warehouse needs.”

Ensuring capacity

Seko says it has engaged with all of its core providers across all modes of transport to ensure access to available capacity across its global networks.

According to the company, it can provide services in the US and Europe specific to medical device manufacturers and other hospital and medical suppliers that include services such as expedited, next-flight-out urgent freight options, domestic and international air charters and white glove inside or at-the-door deliveries into hospitals and clinics.

The logistics company is monitoring increased demand closely for ‘surge capacity’ to support urgent shipments of medical diagnostic, clinic and hospital equipment and supplies, which require a highly flexible and rapid response network.

Seko has MedTec hubs in various locations in the US and the company says its covid-19 business continuity plan gives medical equipment and supplies customers access to a network of over 60 stations close to ports and airports.

For high value, sensitive electronics and medical devices, Seko MedTec’s white glove deliveries also utilise an air-ride network including expedited and exclusive trucks as well as multi-modal services combining air cargo and LTL with white glove and last mile deliveries.
