EFW re-delivers first A330P2F to Altavair

Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) has re-delivered its first Airbus A330 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) converted aircraft to Altavair.

The re-delivery is the first of series of freighter conversions that EFW will carry out for the aviation finance and leasing company, which has ordered several A330P2Fs, comprising both the A330-200P2F and A330-300P2F.

“This investment reflects our belief that the A330 will be the premier freighter going forward in this segment,” said Altavair UK’s president and managing director Paul Newrick. “We are very excited to be teaming with EFW and MasAir Cargo to deliver this truly next-generation converted freighter.”

EFW’s first re-delivery to Altavair is the A330-200Ps2F variant, which offers a gross payload of up to 61 tons and a range of up to 4,200 nautical miles.

With the new converted aircraft, Altavair customer MasAir Cargo will build up a new Airbus freighter fleet, becoming the first airline in the Americas to operate the Airbus widebody P2F, and the first in the world to operate the two Airbus A330P2F variants.

“We are delighted to re-deliver our first converted freighter of 2022 to new customer, Altavair, for operation by MasAir Cargo,” said EFW’s CEO Andreas Spearl. “The A330P2F program is considered very popular delivering best-in-class capability and fuel-efficiency. We are confident it will serve Altavair and MasAir Cargo well.”
