Hamad International Airport reports strong H1 2024 cargo activity
Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Doha, Qatar, has released its H1 figures for 2024 which show it has experienced a notable 12% growth in cargo operations compared to the same period last year.
The airport handled a total of 1.25 million tonnes of cargo from January to June, and specifically in June alone, the airport processed 213,873 tonnes of cargo.
The airport recently welcomed several new carriers, including Japan Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, China Southern Airlines, and Akasa Air. These additions follow the arrival of new airlines including Iberia, Xiamen Airlines, and Vistara, which joined the airport’s network late last year.
In the first six months of 2024, there were 138,471 aircraft movements at HIA, marking a 19% increase compared to the previous year.
Located in the midfield area, HIA‘s cargo terminal can process 1.4 million tonnes of cargo per year. The split-level facility covers 55,000 sqm, boasting 11 widebody freighter aircraft stands and 42 airside loading docks.
