Silk Way West Airlines and Azerpost to enhance e-commerce and postal logistics
Silk Way West Airlines, the leading cargo airline in the Caspian and Central Asian region, and Azerpost have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to deepen their partnership across postal logistics, air transportation and e-commerce shipments, strengthening Azerbaijan’s position as a growing regional cargo hub.
The agreement establishes a strategic framework covering international and domestic cargo delivery, mail sorting, warehousing and logistics optimisation.
By leveraging their combined networks and capabilities, the two organisations aim to streamline postal and cargo flows both within Azerbaijan and across global markets.
Under the memorandum, Azerpost – the national postal operator of Azerbaijan – will use Silk Way West Airlines’ international network to transport e-commerce parcels and postal shipments to Baku and onward destinations.
In turn, the cargo airline will benefit from increased volumes, while Azerpost will manage last-mile delivery, sorting and handling operations within the country.
The cooperation is expected to support development at the Alat Free Economic Zone, where both parties plan to explore joint logistics solutions and next-generation distribution models.
As part of the first phase, a fully automated 12,000 sqm e-commerce terminal will be constructed to handle all postal and parcel traffic, forming the basis for larger regional logistics operations.
Vugar Mammadov, vice president of Silk Way West Airlines, said: “This partnership marks an important milestone in developing Azerbaijan’s postal and logistics connectivity. By joining forces with Azerpost, we aim to further expand our e-commerce logistics capabilities and contribute to the growth of the Alat Free Economic Zone as a key hub for regional and global cargo flows.”
Isi Mustafayev, acting chairman of Azerpost, said: “Our cooperation with Silk Way West Airlines will significantly enhance the efficiency and speed of international postal operations, allowing us to provide faster and more reliable delivery services to customers in Azerbaijan and abroad.”
Both organisations plan to strengthen the partnership further through new digital, operational and infrastructural projects in support of Azerbaijan’s ambition to become a central logistics gateway connecting East and West.
