Low Cost & Regional Airline Business Autumn 2020

I’m excited to welcome you to the autumn issue of Low Cost & Regional, my first since I was appointed Editor of this inspiring aviation title. You’ll notice that we have introduced even more insightful content in this issue such as our Green Sky column which features aviation’s environmental achievements. In this issue, we have Air BP’s Tom Parsons discussing how sustainable aviation fuel is playing an important role in reducing aviation’s carbon emissions. Another one of our new regular pieces focuses on aviation regulation and in this issue features Joanna Kolatsis of Themis Advisory who examines the effect of travel corridors on aviation.

While the Covid-19 pandemic is still raging worldwide and the effects are being felt throughout the aviation industry, our sector is undeniably resilient, and we demonstrate this in many of the stories in this issue. These features include Channel Islands-based regional airline Blue Islands which, until March this year, operated in Flybe colours but is now re-emerging as an ambitious regional carrier with new routes, bold new livery and an extensive partnership with fellow UK airline Loganair.

Another one of our new regular features, Innovation Spotlight, looks into Wizz Air’s ambitious expansion strategy in Europe and beyond. We also examine how regional jets and turboprops are leading the return of aircraft to the skies in this issue.

When it comes to our more technical content, we catch up with Lufthansa Technik and 2Excel Engineering which, while at opposite ends of the heavy maintenance provider scale, are currently facing a similar set of challenges.

We hope you enjoy reading this issue – and don’t forget you can also find even more exclusive stories and industry insight on our exhaustive aviation news website www.aviationbusinessnews.com.
