Air Algérie welcomes first A330neo as fleet modernisation accelerates
Flag carrier Air Algérie has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330-900, marking a major step in the modernisation of its long-haul fleet and a strengthening of its long-standing partnership with Airbus.
The new widebody will support the airline’s growth strategy from its Algiers hub, with Air Algérie confirming the aircraft will be central to the launch of new transatlantic and Asian routes.
The carrier is due to receive seven additional A330neos and is on course to become Africa’s largest operator of the type.
Air Algérie also plans to position itself as a centre of excellence for the A330neo, expanding its maintenance and repair capabilities and developing a dedicated maintenance training centre to support the fleet’s long-term operation.
According to Airbus, the A330 family had secured more than 1,900 firm orders from over 130 customers worldwide by the end of October 2025. Like all Airbus aircraft, the A330neo can already operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with the airframer targeting 100% SAF capability by 2030.
