Climate protestors disrupt flights at Munich airport

Climate activists were arrested at the weekend after causing disruption to operations at Munich airport.

Members of a group calling themselves Last Generation broke into the airport and glued themselves to taxiways on Saturday morning.

Flights had to be suspended or diverted to alternative airports while security forces intervened to move the protestors on.

According to reports, eight activists were arrested and German interior minister Nancy Faeser called for them to be “rigorously prosecuted”.

Last month it was reported that Just Stop Oil and European group A22 Network have vowed to target summer holiday flights ‘on a scale that has never been seen before’.

In a post on X(Twitter) Last Generation posted: “A total of six people are sitting in two groups on different locations of the Munich airport.”

Minister Faeser, slammed the actions of the ac activists as “criminal” and said it was endangering air traffic and putting back the cause of highlighting climate change.

“Good that the federal police took quick action. The culprits must be rigorously prosecuted and protective measures at the airport reviewed,” she said.
