Gulf Air expands Dammam hub as Bahrain remains closed

Regional airspace restrictions continue to reshape flight paths across the Middle East. With Bahrain International Airport remaining closed, Gulf Air has further expanded its temporary hub at King Fahd International Airport (KFIA) in Dammam to maintain regional and international connectivity.

Istanbul, Athens, and Thiruvananthapuram are the latest additions to the Dammam-based schedule. This brings the total to 13 routes operating out of the Saudi terminal, including key links to London, Cairo, and Manila. These adjustments follow the widespread rerouting of air traffic that began on 28 February.

To keep the Bahrain-Saudi corridor open, Gulf Air is running a cross-border shuttle service for passengers. The airline is also assisting with Saudi transit visas for those using its official ground transport. Those ending their journey in Saudi Arabia must still manage their own visa requirements.
