Malaysia Airlines has adopted the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Turbulence Aware programme, providing its pilots with access to real-time turbulence data to enhance flight safety, operational decision-making and passenger comfort.

The programme enables participating airlines to share real-time turbulence observations, helping flight crews anticipate clear air turbulence (CAT), adjust flight paths where necessary and improve the overall travel experience for passengers and crew.

Aida Salfaraz Ahmad Fadzil, chief operating officer of Malaysia Airlines, said: “At Malaysia Airlines, safety underpins every decision we make. The airline said the programme comes as increasingly unpredictable weather patterns make timely operational intelligence more important for maintaining safe and efficient flight operations.

The adoption also builds on Malaysia Airlines‘ wider operational excellence strategy and follows its recent recognition as a Seven Star PLUS safety-rated airline by AirlineRatings.com.
