Canadian passenger and cargo charter airline, Nolinor Aviation, has partnered with AmSafe Bridport to develop and implement Fire Containment Covers (FCCs) and specialised netting for its Boeing 737-200 combi aircraft.

The fire containment solution will enable the airline to meet upcoming regulatory changes, while maintaining operation flexibility of its Boeing 737-200 aircraft.

AmSafe Bridport is a global leader in safety restraint products for the aerospace and defence industries, supplying engineered textile restraint and protection solutions.

Its partnership with Nolinor Aviation will address Transport Canada’s mandate to transition from Class B to Class F cargo compartments, as a result of the cancellation of Alternative Methods of Compliance (AMOCs) for Airworthiness Directive (AD) 93-07-15 and the June 2025 exemption deadline.

Given the Boeing 737-200 need for gravel runway access and Nolinor Aviation’s specific operational requirements, AmSafe Bridport developed a solution featuring advanced FCCs and specialised netting designed to provide up to six hours of passive fire containment.

The FCCs have a three-year service life and provide an added layer of protection against potential in-flight fire hazards and to eliminate the need for fixed bulkheads, which would restrict Nolinor Aviation’s ability to adapt cargo configurations.

Natalie Paul, vice president of sales and engineering at AmSafe Bridport, said: “At AmSafe Bridport, our Fire Containment Covers represent a significant step forward in aviation safety, offering airlines an adaptable and cost-effective alternative to fixed bulkheads. We are proud to support Nolinor Aviation in maintaining the efficiency and reliability that their customers depend on.”

Marco Prud’Homme, president of Nolinor Aviation, added: “It is essential for us to maintain Boeing 737-200’s unmatched performance on gravel runways, and so developing a solution to safeguard this ability was imperative. By working with AmSafe Bridport, we have secured a highly effective fire containment system that not only meets regulatory standards but also supports our commitment to operational excellence.”
