TUI agrees deal to become an Amadeus Navitaire Stratos launch customer

Leading European leisure carrier TUI has been revealed as a launch customer for Amadeus’ Navitaire Stratos, a new retailing platform built for low cost carriers.

TUI Airlines and Amadeus have been partners for over two decades and the shift to Stratos will introduce modern shopping functionality.

Central to the partnership will be a modern shopping cart that allows customers to search offers, save selections, and return to complete orders with up-to-date pricing.

The TUI Airline group will also be able to offer personalised recommendations and improved access to add-ons like car rental, activities, and accommodation.

Peter Glade, TUI Airline chief commercial officer, said: “We are on a journey to build the most modern airline commercial set up in the industry.

“Navitaire Stratos will be a cornerstone of this transformation. Jointly we will bring even more value to our customers and further improve the traveler experience.

“With Stratos we will be able to create contextual and relevant offers for travelers, including ancillaries.

“It will elevate our retailing capabilities with intelligent recommendations, dynamic offers, and a shopping cart that makes it easy for customers to convert their selections into an order or save them for later.”

Navitaire Stratos is among an emerging technology ecosystem that is being built for the future and according to IATA offer order protocols.

The cloud-based technology promises airlines the ability to operate more flexibly and customer-centrically than existing legacy systems can allow.

Built on open IT architecture and including Artificial Intelligence capabilities, Amadeus says Stratos combines flexibility with resilience which will help TUI “innovate faster, operate efficiently, and stay competitive in an evolving market”.

Cyril Tetaz, executive vice president, airline solutions, at Amadeus, said: “We are proud to work with TUI Airline as a launch customer for Navitaire Stratos.

“As the group transitions from our New Skies solution, close collaboration on a shared long-term roadmap will ensure business continuity, while helping shape the next-generation Offer and Order solution of reference for low-cost and hybrid carriers.”

TUI Airline is expected to see increased revenues by making product offers more relevant, improving conversion, and driving extra sales through smarter upsell and cross-sell recommendations, including partner content via industry-standard frameworks.

TUI InfoTec, the TUI Group IT subsidiary, will lead the collaboration with Amadeus.
