Florida-based aircraft lessor Azorra has delivered the first of two ATR 42-600 aircraft on lease to Dallas-based public charter air carrier JSX to expand regional operations across underserved airports in the United States.

The introduction of the regional turboprop is aimed directly at managing operating costs through fuel efficiency as JSX looks to scale its network. The aircraft provides the carrier with the performance capabilities required to access thousands of smaller domestic airports that cannot sustain or receive traditional scheduled service from mainline network airlines.

This initial delivery marks a new North American customer relationship for Azorra, expanding its leased asset footprint in the regional aviation sector. The acquisition comes as regional operators face ongoing fleet utilization pressures and volatile fuel spreads, forcing a closer alignment between capacity management and asset efficiency.

“Balancing product and fuel efficiency is more important now than ever before and we appreciate Azorra’s partnership as JSX looks to shape the next generation of regional air travel,” says Jeff Simmons, chief financial officer at JSX.

The addition of the ATR 42-600 platform allows the public charter carrier to bypass congested primary airport hubs, optimizing its utilization rates and mitigating the risk of hub-and-spoke delays. The second ATR 42-600 aircraft from the lease agreement is scheduled for delivery at a later date to support the ongoing regional network expansion.

“We are happy to announce that Azorra has delivered the first of two ATR 42-600s on lease to JSX,” says Michael Davis, chief marketing officer at Azorra. “Building on the momentum of their 10-year anniversary, JSX continues to innovate by connecting underserved airports across the United States and enabling travelers to bypass congested airport hubs.”
