IAG Loyalty has reported seeing early success having implemented new retailing technology developed by JR Technologies with launch partner Aer Lingus.

The partners said the tie-up has seen them develop “one of the airline industry’s first multi-product shopping carts with loyalty currency plus cash settlement”.

IAGL adopted JR’s Aerostream platform to use its order management capabilities to create a new shopping experience for multiple products and a more seamless checkout.

The technology enables travellers and members to earn and redeem Avios points on each product in their cart, including flights, hotels, and ancillaries, in the same transaction.

Travellers and members can pay for individual products with cash, Avios points or a combination of both.

IAGL said Aerostream has “delivered positive results” since launch in the fourth quarter of 2022 with launch partner Aer Lingus.

The Irish carrier in the IAG group saw a 31% increase in volume, said IAGL, and a 40% year-on-year revenue increase on bookings made through the IAGL platform.

Stephen Scott, chief product and data officer at IAGL, said: “We came to JR Technologies because of their work with IATA and because they are the most credible solutions provider to partner with us on our path toward NDC and One Order retailing.

“Aerostream’s innovative multi-product shopping cart has enhanced our customers’ booking experience and created stronger engagement as a result. This also aligns with the priorities of our launch airline, Aer Lingus.”

Adarsh Suneja, chief executive of JR Technologies and creator of the Aerostream solution, added:

“By deploying our new Aerostream platform with IAGL and Aer Lingus, we’re demonstrating the power of modern airline retailing with two ideal partners.

“We’re not just talking about NDC and ONE Order as concepts; we have a proven solution in production in a live environment, already generating performance results and positively impacting the travel experience.”

Having deployed Aerostream with Aer Lingus, IAGL’s customer support agents use a white-label solution to book and modify reservations for their customers and loyalty members.

Aerostream’s offer management solution provides hotel and car rental inventory as well as a multi-product shopping basket and an ancillary rules management console and analytical tools. Further plans include adding flights to the IAGL offering via Aer Lingus.

Aerostream has also been deployed with sister carrier BA. Future deployments include direct passenger/member access via IAGL’s white-label B2C application across other airlines using the Avios loyalty currency.
