AerDragon and GE sign CFM56 TrueChoice overhaul agreement

AerDragon Aviation Leasing has signed a ‘TrueChoice’ overhaul agreement with GE, covering the time and materials required to overhaul eight CFM56-5B engines installed on four A320ceo aircraft.

The aircraft were delivered to AerDragon’s lessee customers and entered service in 2009 and 2010. The agreement, which was signed at the 13th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, will be fulfilled during the next four years.

AerDragon is the first Mainland China-based lessor doing aircraft operating lease business and placed the first A320ceo speculative order powered by CFM56-5B engines in 2007.

“GE is a pillar of the aviation industry and has supported AerDragon’s development since our inception,” said AerDragon’s CEO Gang Li.

“We are pleased to expand our partnership and become the first Chinese lessor customer of GE’s pioneering TrueChoice engine overhaul programme. Working together with OEM partners, we look forward to providing cost effective solutions to our airline customers.”

Weiming Xiang, GE Vice President, GE China President & CEO, GE Aviation Greater China President commented: “We are very pleased to sign this TrueChoice engine overhaul agreement with AerDragon to further extend our partnership with this first Chinese lessor.

“GE is thrilled to be the partner to support the phenomenal growth of Chinese aircraft lessors in the past 15 years. Despite the current unprecedent challenges, GE will continue to provide the world-class product, service, and support to our lessor customers to keep the GE engine fleet fly in the post Covid-19 pandemic.”
