BAA Training creates new MRO company Avia Repair Co in Spain

Avia Repair

BAA Training has established a new MRO organisation in Spain called Avia Repair Co. It will operate at Lleida-Alguaire International Airport.

Following a certification process, the new MRO will initially provide services to BAA Training but will carry out work for other corporate clients at a later date.

Avia Repair will initially service Tecnam P2002, Tecnam P2006, Cessna 172 and Cessna 150 aircraft, with more types to added.

“BAA Training has realised the necessity of creating such an organisation for a while now,” said BAA Training’s chief operating officer Evgenij Grachiov.

“Having a dedicated local MRO that entirely concentrates on quality maintenance activities ensures the safety and airworthiness of the academy’s fleet in its Spanish bases. Once Avia Repair Co gains momentum, it will also offer its MRO services for external customers.”

Avia Repair Co plans to recruit at least 10 engineers and mechanics in 2021 alone. Director Goncalo Antonio Nunes Penedo commented: “Avia Repair Co will apply the know-how of European quality standards in MRO and aim to ensure adequate turnaround time. For making it possible, the company will recruit profoundly detail-oriented maintenance experts with related experience to work in its fully-equipped hangar located at Lleida-Alguaire International Airport.”
