A tool designed to monitor and forecast the capacity of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) over the next decade has been launched by Boeing.

The SAF Dashboard, launched at the 2023 Paris Air Show, utilises data collected by BloombergNEF, aggregating global announcements of SAF capacity from suppliers and providing filtering options based on production pathway, location, and other metrics.

Accessible through Boeing’s Sustainable Aerospace Together hub, SAF Dashboard aims to facilitate discussions and actions among industry stakeholders.

Its purpose is to enable analysis of the existing SAF footprint and project future production levels necessary to achieve the commercial aviation industry’s target of net-zero emissions by 2050.

Chris Raymond, chief sustainability officer at Boeing, said: “SAF reduces CO2 emissions by up to 85 per cent and possibly more over the fuel’s lifecycle, offering the greatest potential to decarbonise aviation over the next 30 years.

“SAF Dashboard portrays the data visually as our industry works together across sectors to increase SAF production for a more sustainable aerospace future.”
