China Eastern awards landing gear MRO contract to Safran

China Eastern has agreed a five-year MRO contract with Safran Landing Systems.

Safran will carry out maintenance operations on the landing gear of the Chinese airline’s fleet of 31 Airbus A330s at its Singapore workshop.

Eastern Airlines Technics’ CEO Song Shaokun said: “Being the affiliate of China Eastern Group, EASTEC specialises in aircraft maintenance and engineering services, covering full life cycle of aircraft.

“Safran in our close cooperative partner, who shares the same target and vision. We will continue reinforcing our cooperation with Safran, and jointly devote to provide high-quality services to all customers including China Eastern.”

The Singapore workshop is a joint venture between Safran and Singapore Airlines Engineering company, which specialises in landing gear revision.

Safran’s executive vice president of MRO Bruno Chiarelli said: “We are proud to have been chosen by China Eastern to carry out these MRO operations. The new agreement strengthens our long-standing relationship of trust with China Eastern. The joint company we set up in Xi’an in 2016 specialises in landing gear maintenance for single-aisle aircraft.”

The MRO contract forms part of Safran’s ‘Landing Life’ support and services offer, which covers all Safran Landing Systems’ after-sales business.
