British Airways (BA) has chosen to continue and expand its use of dentCHECK tooling within its maintenance operations.

The UK flag carrier has been using the 3D surface inspection technology from 8tree since 2017 across both line and base maintenance to accelerate and standardise damage inspection and reporting.

Now the airline is further expanding its digital inspection capability with three additional dentCHECK tools – one at Glasgow, supporting base maintenance at its narrowbody facility, and two at London Heathrow, serving both line and base maintenance.

BA says the expansion is a continued commitment to operational excellence, safety and innovation.

Designed specifically for the aviation maintenance environment, dentCHECK is the world’s only AR-enabled, handheld 3D dent-mapping tool recognised and approved by major OEMs, including Airbus, Boeing and Embraer.

8tree reports that it enables airlines and MROs to complete inspections up to 90% faster, while producing SRM-compliant, traceable digital reports with 20-times more consistency than traditional manual methods.

BA’s adoption of dentCHECK aligns with its broader strategy to digitise and optimise MRO processes, enabling faster decision-making and improved inspection traceability across its engineering network.
